1915

Harry Apple establishes Trade Press Publishing Company in Milwaukee with his first magazine, Ford Owner.

1943

Sanitary Maintenance, a magazine for the burgeoning janitorial supply industry debuts as a bimonthly publication. As the industry grows, so does its frequency of publication and influence.

1954

Shortly after World War II, Harry's son Robert H. Apple joins the company as its Business Manager. In 1954, the new Apple in charge launches Building Maintenance & Modernization magazine. It later is renamed Building Operating Management.

1988

After guiding the company for more than three decades, Robert H. Apple sells the family business to two Trade Press Publishing executives and an equity investor.

1990s

Under the leadership of Bob Wisniewski, President/CEO and Bob Arens, Executive Vice President/CFO, the company rapidly grows through a combination of new product development and acquisition.

1993

Maintenance Solutions magazine, now Facility Maintenance Decisions, is launched to satisfy the information needs of 35,000 directors of maintenance and engineering responsible for commercial and institutional buildings.

1994

Progressive Railroading magazine is acquired from Murphy-Richter Publishing Company in Chicago.

Contracting Profits magazine is launched to provide high quality business information to over 30,000 owners/managers of building service contracting firms.

The first of three major industry Web portals is developed and go live: FacilitiesNet.com (1995), CleanLink.com (1997) and ProgressiveRailroading.com (2000).

Wisniewski and Arens purchase the majority ownership interest of their investor partner.

2001

After the turn of the century, the company expands into conferences and expositions: National Facilities Management & Technology (NFMT) Conference (2001), Facilities Midwest (2006) and Facility Decisions (2008).

Housekeeping Solutions magazine is created for in-house cleaning managers in institutional buildings. The publication's name is changed to Facility Cleaning Decisions in 2013.

2005

RailTrends, a two-day executive conference for rail industry analysts and top executives, is launched in New York City.

Bob Wisniewski, CEO and his wife Rebecca acquire all company ownership stock from business partner Bob Arens upon his retirement from the firm.

2006

Two industry search engines, FacilityZone.com and CleanHound.com, are created for the facilities management and commercial cleaning industry.

The firm moves into the field of e-learning by creating a partnership with the Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI) to create and market the Master Facilities Executive Certificate seminar series.

2007

After 25 years in its current location at 2100 W. Florist Ave. in Milwaukee, the company's corporate headquarters undergoes a major renovation.

2008

Facility Decisions Expo, a two-day free educational conference and tradeshow for western United States, is held in the fall in Las Vegas.

Trade Press Publishing Corp. officially changes its name to Trade Press Media Group, reflecting its diverse family of offerings.

2009

HSRupdate.com, a paid content Web site covering high-speed rail projects, is launched in September.

2010

Facilities Mexico Conference & Expo is created for the Mexican facilities management industry. The event, which is co-located with the largest security event in Mexico, is held in mid-April.

The Creative Services Print and E-Media Teams of Trade Press are recognized ten times in the 2010 American Inhouse Design Awards competition. The competition is the premier showcase for outstanding work by inhouse designers.

The CleaningGreen Virtual Conference & Expo is the company's first foray into this new medium. The event, which professionals attend from the convenience of their offices, attracts almost 1,000 visitors.

Trade Press Media Group is judged one of the Top 100 Workplaces in Southeast Wisconsin by the Milwaukee JournalSentinel. Bob Wisniewski, the company's President & CEO is named "most trusted leader" for firms with fewer than 150 employees.

2013

The Critical Facilities Summit & Exposition made its debut at the Charlotte, North Carolina Convention Center in October. The event, which addressed the information needs of those responsible for the design, construction and on-going operation of mission critical facilities, drew nearly 600 paid attendees. Decision-makers from leading co-location data centers, telecommunication firms, financial institutions, hospitals, research laboratories and e-commerce retailers were in attendance.

2014

The Secure Rail Conference is announced. The event produced under the Progressive Railroading magazine brand will focus on protecting and managing the security of rail technologies, assets and workers. The first Secure Rail Conference was held Feb. 3-4, 2015 at the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort in Orlando, FL.

The NFMT High-Performance Buildings Conference & Expo is announced. Scheduled for June 2-3, 2015 in Fort Worth, TX., this 2 day conference and product expo will be dedicated to advancing the awareness and understanding of energy and resource efficient, intelligent, people-friendly facilities. Key decision-makers will come together to learn how to create and operate highly-automated facilities that reduce energy consumption by applying data and smart analytics to achieve peak performance in both new and existing buildings.
